DRAPER'S PHILANTHROPIC OUTREACH TOWARDS ADRENAL CANCER |
|
Canton, MA (August 10, 2010) - Draper Therapies has partnered with the University of Michigan's Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Spencer Bell Memorial Fund, to support research in the field of adrenal cancer. Draper Therapies' goal is to help raise awareness and support for endocrine diseases, which falls in line with Draper's core beliefs of providing health, wellness, life and love to humans as well as four-legged companions.
Endocrine diseases affect all animal species including canines and horses, so partnership with the University of Michigan's Comprehensive Cancer Center was a natural step for Draper. "This philanthropic approach we're taking isn't something new for our parent company, Draper Knitting, as they've always supported education and their surrounding community. As Draper Therapies is continuing to grow, we want to make sure that we're keeping with the ideals of our parent company, always remembering that we have to take care of those around us and supporting the future, no matter what it holds," said Kat Wojtylak, Product Manager at Draper Therapies. "All proceeds from the special Draper Therapy Blankets and bracelets, purchased through the Draper web site, go directly to the Spencer Bell Memorial Fund to support adrenal cancer research at the University of Michigan.""
Gary D. Hammer, M.D., Ph.D., Millie Schembechler Professor of Adrenal Cancer at the University of Michigan, said he is delighted to endorse the efforts of Wojtylak and Draper Therapies as they embark on the ambitious project to raise awareness and funds for the adrenal cancer research. "I am thrilled that Draper Therapies has strategically aligned with the Spencer Bell Fund at the University of Michigan to make a difference in the lives of those with Adrenal Cancer. The University of Michigan Adrenal Cancer Program has been involved with the Spencer Bell Memorial Project since inception," Hammer said. "The Spencer Bell Fund in part hopes to provide young undergraduate and graduate students experience in adrenal cancer research through internships in laboratories engaged in cutting edge work including the elucidation of defective genes in adrenal stem cells that contribute to adrenal cancer and the translation of such discoveries into novel new therapies that are entering into major national and international trials for adrenal cancer."
Draper's Wojtylak knows all too well what it is like to face cancer. In February of 2007 she underwent surgery for papillary and follicular cancer but is pleased to report that she has now been cancer free for two years. "The opportunity to team up with Bill Bell, Dr. Hammer and the staff at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center, has really allowed us to work with a group of wonderful individuals who are so committed to creating a world of difference for those faced with the hardships of adrenal cancer," Wojtylak said. "We have been immensely inspired and hope that our new partnership allows for new relationships to form, knowledge to be spread and growth in awareness for this disease." Wojtylak added, "In the case of Spencer Bell, he was an individual who always would 'Embrace this Moment' as 'There is No Plan B' and that is something we greatly admire. We not only want as many people touched by his story, as all the individuals at Draper were, but to know that through working together, great things can be achieved even when the light at the end of the tunnel cannot be seen."

DRAPER CANINE THERAPY BRINGS IN A LITTLE COLOR |
|
Canton, MA (March 1, 2010) - Draper Therapies has done it again with delivering when it comes to their customers wants. The newest products to be added to the Draper Canine Therapy collection is the SOAR Pet Mats available in multiple colors.
"We have a rule that if at least five different customers ask for a certain product, then that item will go into reseacrh and development," said Kat Wojtylak for Draper Therapies. "We can try to anticipate what the customers will ultimately want, but the best ideas usually come from the customers or our Advisory Board members."
"The addition of the SOAR Pet Mats into the line was a collaboration of a few ideas coming together. We've noticed that the canine market in particular is very high fashion and we had continual requests for colors even though many have come to expect our signature colors of charcoal gray, black, navy and burgundy. Draper Knitting, our parent company who manufactures the fabrics that go into our products made the specific colored fabric that would result in the SOAR Pet Mats. It just made sense to bring the finished products back to our customers in a convenient way," stated Wojtylak.
The SOAR Pet Mats are available in sizes S(25"x36"), L(36"x36"), or L(4"x9") and in three color choices, Rustic, Kodiak or Cocoa.

|
Canton, MA (March 15, 2010) - Draper Therapies has always tried to stay ahead of the curve with innovative products and Draper Canine Therapy's new Doggie Wraps are no exception. Draper products are all known to contain the innovative smart fiber called Celliant™/Holofiber® which has proven to reduce pain, increase oxygen levels and help balance overall body temperature.
"The wraps themselves are designed to be mini ace-bandages with Velcro. We had so many customers asking for something to put on their dogs legs to help them whether after surgery, for an injury or for arthritis," said Kat Wojtylak for Draper Therapies. "We figured this was the best approach to a leg product because you can adjust the tension making it ideal if the leg is larger than normal."
